The Pocatello Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 11 approved a zoning map amendment to rezone the commercial portion of 155 Willard Ave. to Residential Medium Density Single-Family (RMS), allowing the applicant to place a single-family home on the property.
The application concerns a roughly 0.3-acre parcel split by the current zoning: about half is zoned Commercial General (GC) and half Residential Medium Density Single-Family. The applicant requested rezoning the GC portion to RMS to match surrounding properties. The commission found the proposal compliant with the city’s future land use map and Pocatello City Code section 17.02.170.E, as recommended by staff.
The applicant, identified in the record only as Brandon (last name not clearly stated in meeting minutes), told the commission the request was “to just rezone to put a single family home on it” and that the rezoning would match the four or five adjoining residential properties. Jim Anglesey, the city’s long-range planner, told the commission that staff had reviewed the application and concluded it complied with the future land use map and with Pocatello City Code section 17.02.170.E.
There was no public testimony recorded in support or opposition. Commissioner Hewlett moved to approve the zone map amendment and Commissioner Benjamin Gomez seconded the motion. The motion passed on a roll call vote; all members present voted yes.
The commission authorized the chair to sign the findings of fact and recommendation required to forward the action into the city’s administrative record.
