Person County fills dozens of advisory‑board vacancies; commissioners make multiple appointments

The Person County Board of Commissioners nominated and appointed a slate of volunteers to multiple boards, commissions and committees during its regular meeting on Jan. 6, 2025. The appointments filled vacancies advertised in November 2024 and received through a Dec. 13 application deadline.
Highlights of the appointments (by board and appointee): - Agriculture Advisory Board: Ellen Clayton (new appointment) and reappointment of Jessica Aguilar. - Airport Commission: Reappointment of Henry Newell. - Environmental Issues Advisory Committee (Bushy Fork): Holly Emerson appointed. - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC): Appointed Jacob Hess; Citizen‑at‑Large appointment: Kelly Woody; court representative appointment: Chelsea Tucker; county manager/designate reappointment: Brian Hart. - Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC): Kenneth Touring appointed as first responder (fire) representative. - Emergency Management: Michael Bratcher appointed (physician representative). - Emergency Medical Services representative: Heather Chandler appointed. - Person Memorial Hospital physician representative: Eric Kaplan appointed. - Tourism Development Authority (TDA): Appointments included Herman Gentry and Sally Humphreys (board approved the slate after nominations). - Planning Board (unexpired term through June 30, 2025): Julie Mabey appointed after board vote among five applicants (committee noted the importance of the role during the ongoing UDO/rezoning work). - Workforce Development Board (business & industry representative): Joshua Carver appointed. - Various other at‑large and advisory roles were filled as listed in the meeting packet and recorded in the minutes.
