Council members, staff and community groups advance Lynnwood youth commission work

Councilmember Bridal told the Feb. 24 Lynnwood City Council meeting that a task group led by Councilmember Escamilla met recently to begin building a youth commission.
"With Council member Escamilla leading the effort, we had a great task group show up in the offices ... for the youth commission board that's being built," Bridal said. She said community leaders including Wally Webster, representatives from the school district and organizations that focus on youth such as Project Girl attended the meeting. Bridal described the session as "inspiring and impactful" and said organizers discussed structure and representation for the youth council.
Bridal said the group hopes to have youth representation this year but provided no specific timeline or formal council action at the Feb. 24 meeting. She said the organizers did not take photos at the meeting and described progress as ongoing. Councilmembers did not place a related ordinance or formal appointment on the Feb. 24 agenda.
