Middlesex County Improvement Authority honors Plainsboro recycling coordinator Neil Blitz

The Middlesex County Improvement Authority presented its 2024 annual recycling coordinator award to Neil Blitz of Plainsboro during the authority’s Dec. 11 meeting.
The award recognizes Blitz’s long record of service to municipal and county recycling programs. James Poloz, speaking for the authority during the committee reports portion of the meeting, said Blitz “has been the recycling coordinator there for many, many years” and cited his past service on local environmental commissions and statewide recycling organizations.
Neil Blitz accepted the award by phone and thanked staff and partners. “The MCIA is staffed by true professionals who are dedicated to their work and the service to the residents of Middlesex County,” Blitz said. He also said he has chaired the county Solid Waste Advisory Committee since 2013 and credited colleagues for any successes: “If it wasn't for the people that I work with on a daily basis, I would be nothing.”
The authority did not discuss any formal policy changes tied to the award. The presentation was part of the committee reports segment; no vote was required.
The authority’s next regular meeting will include budget and procurement items that relate to county recycling operations, including an ongoing curbside recycling bid that officials said is currently out for proposals.
