City economic development staff and airport officials presented a package of proposed project-plan changes and new tax-increment financing (TIF) districts to the Urban and Economic Development Committee on Feb. 12, describing how the amendments would clear the way for new housing, retail and industrial development.
Aaron (city economic development) introduced an ordinance amending prior airport project-plan ordinances to adjust boundaries and include areas previously considered non-developable so the Tulsa International Airport can expand commercial development opportunities. Daniel Regan, representing the airport, said the amendment does not change the timeline of the existing TIF but would "right-size" boundaries to reflect new development opportunities including aerospace and testing projects. The administration said the item is a joint city–county TIF and still requires county approval.
