Davis County Commission ratifies grant, approves Motorola camera contract and interpreter services; tables short-term rental data purchase

The Davis County Commission on Feb. 4 approved a professional services contract for Spanish interpretation, ratified a federal reimbursement for housing criminal aliens and voted to authorize a five-year contract with Motorola Solutions for in-car and body camera systems.

Neil Geddes, the county—s head civil attorney, presented a professional services agreement with Ingrid Oseguera to provide Spanish interpretation for the criminal division primarily to support victim advocates. Geddes told commissioners the in-person interpreting rate is $62 per hour. Commissioners voted to approve the agreement.

The sheriff—s office asked the commission to ratify a Bureau of Justice Assistance reimbursement of $41,633 for costs related to housing criminal aliens for the period from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The commission voted to ratify the grant reimbursement.

Sheriff Kelly Sparks also presented a contract between Davis County and Motorola Solutions to manage in-car video and body-worn camera equipment, software and video storage. The contract amount is $666,664 over five years, beginning on final signature and ending Dec. 30, 2029. Commissioners approved that contract.
