Jessica Patterson, state procurement director, and other witnesses explained the measure fixes two sections that should have used the updated department name. Patterson said the text should have read “Department of Transformation shared services” and the bill corrects that phrasing to align with prior reorganization language.
Committee members noted the related Senate Bill 147 changes the department’s name and includes a “do not codify” provision intended to capture technical corrections. Committee members discussed that if both bills pass, the corrections should apply automatically regardless of which bill is enacted first.
Senator Tucker and others offered brief procedural comments; no public speakers signed up for or against the bill. The committee approved the bill by voice vote.
