The Waukesha City Council approved multiple public-works contracts and received an update on the city’s curbside cart replacement ahead of a service transition in April.
Bids and contract awards approved by the council included: - 2025 Fire Station Boiler Replacement: low bid to August Winter & Sons for $53,400. - Silvernail Road Utility and Street Improvement Project: low bid to Leilond for $2,985,434.16. - Badger Drive HVAC Improvement Project: low bid to Hennis Services for $63,990. - Rotary Building Door and Window Replacement: low bid to Corcoran Glass LLC for $174,982.
Each award was moved, seconded and passed unanimously during the council meeting after the Board of Public Works and staff recommended acceptance of the low bids.
Public Works Director Alex reported on the city’s curbside cart rollout tied to a new service contract. Contractors have delivered about 5,000 of the planned 20,000 carts so far and are working from the city’s southeast quadrant westward. Staff said the goal is to complete deliveries before the new contract’s service start so residents should continue using existing carts through their last March pickup and begin using the new carts for April service. The department is coordinating with the current hauler to collect old carts during that transition window.
Councilors approved the construction contract awards after staff recommended moving forward with the lowest responsive bids and confirmed each award would follow standard contracting and construction oversight procedures.
