City Secretary Ms. Gatan told the council the item was simply to “move forward” with preparations for the May election. Councilman Zimmicks asked about cost, and staff said the city budgeted about $13,000 for the election. A motion to adopt the ordinance carried; the ordinance passed in council action during the meeting.
The election will be held jointly with other entities, the ordinance states. Council discussion on the item was limited to clarifying the budgeted cost and confirming staff can proceed. No changes to the ordinance language were proposed at Tuesday’s meeting.
The council took the vote during the same public meeting; the motion to adopt the ordinance was seconded and subsequently approved by the council.
