Planning commission advances review of Master Plan Community zone amendments, schedules public hearing

The Willard City Planning Commission on Feb. 20 discussed proposed amendments to the Master Plan Community (MPC) zone in Chapter 24.24 of the city zoning code. Staff member Maddie said the draft language was intended to "clean up" the MPC ordinance and add clarity and additional procedural details.
Commissioners said the revised text addressed prior concerns and cited the value of a pre-application work session for applicants; one commissioner asked that a required work session be included as a condition to reduce repetitive resubmissions. Maddie confirmed the draft includes language to require a work session or pre-application meeting for certain MPC applicants.
No formal vote was taken on the ordinance text during the Feb. 20 meeting. The commission agreed to place the amendment on an upcoming agenda for a public hearing and continued review. Staff will post the public hearing notice and return the item for a formal hearing on the schedule described by the commission.
