The Encinitas Youth Commission met on Feb. 5 and approved the minutes from its Jan. 8 regular meeting. Vice Chair Kelly moved to approve the minutes and Chair Leszynski seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous.
During the public comment period, three community speakers made brief announcements and requests. Carolyn Cope, president of the Encinitas Historical Society, presented a 30‑year‑old “Encinitas” song and asked commissioners to consider placing the song on a future agenda so the society and city can discuss ways to revive or use it in upcoming events.
Kelly McCormick invited commissioners to support Study Buddies, a program sponsored in part by San Dieguito For Drug Free Youth and area school districts. McCormick said high school volunteers help elementary students with homework once a week for about an hour…
