Design review committee approves Planning & Building major projects list; staff asked to add links and references

At the start of its Dec. 19 meeting the Solvang Design Review Committee approved a consent item to receive and file the Planning & Building Division’s December “major projects” list. The motion passed by roll call vote; staff and public commenters discussed possible improvements to the way the list presents project details to the public.
Dennis Beebe, a local resident and frequent commenter, urged staff to add links from the summary table to the full DRC packets or at least add the DRC agenda date where the packet appears, to make it easier for the public to find more detailed project information. The committee chair and staff said they would pass those suggestions to the division and consider posting an enhanced table on the Planning and Building web page.
A motion to approve the consent item, with appreciation for Beebe’s suggestions, carried 4-0 with Vice Chair Dryden Hess absent: Member Lapp Yes; Member Kavanaugh Yes; Member Martin Yes; Chair Jacobson Bates Yes. Staff said it would pursue the recommended clarity and posting improvements.
