Platte County schedules Oct. 20 public hearing on 2025 budget amendments; auditor's proposed audit contract extension tabled

Platte County commissioners on Oct. 6 approved a request from County Auditor Kevin Robinson to hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the county's 2025 approved budget on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m.; Robinson said proposed amendments would be made available by Oct. 10.
Robinson also presented agenda item 2025CO136, a proposed two-year extension of the county's independent audit services contract with RSM US LLP for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. Robinson told commissioners RSM has served the county since the 2012 fiscal year and said extending the existing contract would preserve institutional knowledge and help the county meet single-audit requirements tied to ARPA funds.
Commissioners asked questions about the contract's duration and history; Robinson said RSM has worked with the county uninterrupted for about 13 years. After discussion, a motion to table the proposed extension was made and carried on a roll call, 3-0, so staff can discuss the matter further with commissioners.
The public hearing request on the 2025 budget amendments (2025RES063) was approved by voice/roll call, 3-0. Robinson said proposed amendments would be posted on the auditor's office website and available in his office by Oct. 10 before the Oct. 20 hearing.
