Portland Housing Bureau staff provided an update July 10 on homeownership outcomes under the North/Northeast preference program and on home‑repair assistance available to low‑income homeowners in the Interstate Corridor urban renewal area.
Ira Bailey, a program coordinator at PHB, reported that the bureau has helped about 130 families become first‑time homebuyers through the program to date and that one household was actively shopping in the Interstate Corridor at the time of the meeting. “We have helped a 130 families become first time homebuyers,” Bailey said. He gave a race/ethnicity breakdown the program collected: 103 Black/African American homebuyers, 1 Native American, 7 White, 3 multiracial, 1 Asian and 4 Hispanic entrants.
