Ivins City to wrap utility boxes and display local artwork; Coral Canyon HOA pays for one box, wrap funds pay part of Palisades installation

Ivins City Arts Commission members on June 11 reported that City Council approved artwork for several utility-box wraps and discussed schedules, costs and funding for those installations ahead of Heritage Days.
Daphne (first name used in meeting), an Arts Commission member, said she had spoken with the city designer and that the Coral Canyon box will be ready after the designer notifies the Coral Canyon contact; she said "they can have the box up and ready by the June 23." The Coral Canyon wrap is being paid for by that HOA at a purchase price of $2,758.98, the commission reported.
The Arts Commission said the garden box — titled "Planting Seeds, Harvesting Unity" on earlier materials and being corrected to read "Ivins City, Utah" for community signage — will be installed by June 23 and that wrap funds will cover its cost of $2,460.05. The commission also finalized a revised layout for three Palisades boxes so that artwork from all submitting artists appears across the three-panel installations; the Palisades total purchase price is $5,791.59, with wrap funds covering 25% of that cost ($1,477.89).
Sherry Stoddard, a gallery owner and Arts Corridor Committee member, is coordinating a silent auction during Heritage Days to support the Whitaker fundraising effort and future public-art projects. The auction items will be photographed and displayed at City Hall during Heritage Days week; the commission will staff a booth and display a fundraising thermometer to show progress toward goals.
The commission also discussed plaques for existing sculptures and maintenance of current plaques; members noted some plaques were difficult to see or were falling down and agreed to follow up to ensure installation and visibility prior to Heritage Days.

The commission also reported a prior City Council resolution that directed wrap funds toward development of the Arts Corridor and that a portion of wrap funds is designated specifically for Arts Corridor projects.
