Richland County Office of Small Business Opportunity adds staff, reports 266 certified SLBE firms

Lasasha Greenland of Richland County's Office of Small Business Opportunity told the Transportation Advisory Committee on July 21 that OSBO recently added two staff members and that its small local business enterprise (SLBE) certification program lists 266 certified firms.
"We have 2 new staff members that have recently joined us: Mary Harris, who is our program coordinator, and Charles Charleston is our new business development and outreach coordinator," Greenland said. She reported category totals of certified firms, including seven architectural and engineering firms, 65 construction firms, 111 nonprofessional services, 78 professional services and five wholesale firms, for a total of 266 certified SLBEs.
Greenland said OSBO has six pending new certification applications and 22 firms renewing their SLBE certification. She described a June 27 event titled "Beyond the Bid: Strategies for Success with Richland County," at which the Richland County director of procurement Jennifer Ladyskin presented on contracting with the county; the event drew 76 attendees and received positive feedback from small-business participants.
Greenland closed by urging committee members to refer potentially eligible businesses to OSBO and provided contact information for the office. The office listed a phone number, (803) 576-1540, and an email contact osbo@richlandcountysc.gov to assist applicants.
