Taft planning commission recommends council approve housing element progress report and forward to state

A Planning Commission representative told the City Council that the commission reviewed the annual progress report on Taft's housing element and will forward a recommendation that the council approve the report and have the planning director submit it to the state.
The report, described to council members as a review of accomplishments under the current housing element and of areas needing additional work, is part of the regular update process for the city's housing planning obligations. The planning representative recommended the council approve the progress report so staff can transmit it to state authorities.
Councilmembers acknowledged the work involved and thanked planning staff for the effort. No formal council vote on the report was recorded in the public portion of the meeting; staff indicated the item will be scheduled for council action in a future agenda with the recommendation to approve and forward the report.
