The Taylor City Council on Jan. 9 approved Ordinance 2025-01 to annex roughly 163.25 acres on petition from BGE Incorporated.

City staff described the property as located between Castlewood and the Samsung site in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The annexation is intended to bring the land into city limits ahead of a forthcoming employment-center plan; staff said the area will be used for employment (nonresidential) and will be assigned to a council district in a later ordinance.

City planning staff said the annexed land will not contain residential uses and noted the annexation would allow the city to include the property in future planning and infrastructure work. A motion to approve Ordinance 2025-01 carried unanimously.

Staff said additional steps — including possible adjustments to council district boundaries and a future employment-center plan — will follow the annexation. No public objections were recorded during the meeting.
