Princeton board appoints Michael Holmes mayor pro tempore, assigns commissioner roles and confirms a board of adjustment member

The Princeton Board of Commissioners announced commissioner portfolio assignments for 2025 and took votes to confirm certain appointments.

The board asked Commissioner Robinson to serve as street, sidewalk and drainage commissioner, Commissioner Holmes to serve as water and sewer commissioner, Commissioner Martin to continue as police commissioner, and Commissioner Boyette to serve as finance commissioner. These portfolio assignments were presented by the mayor and were accepted by the named commissioners; the discussion did not record separate votes on each portfolio assignment.

The board voted to appoint Commissioner Michael Holmes as mayor pro tempore in accordance with the town charter (section 2.4 cited by the mayor). The mayor read the charter provision describing the mayor pro tempore’s role and asked for a first and second; the motion was approved by voice vote, with the chair calling “All in favor, raise your right hand. Motion passes.” (recorded as 4‑0).

The board also considered an application for the Board of Adjustment and voted to appoint Kayla T. Holmes (residence and employer included in the packet) as the appointee; the clerk said hers was the only application received after advertising, and the appointment was approved 4‑0.

The board concluded with a ceremonial swearing in of the mayor pro tempore, and the mayor thanked the commissioners for their volunteer service. No compensation changes were discussed at the meeting.
