The Glynn County Island Planning Commission unanimously approved a site-plan application Tuesday for a 3,300-square-foot addition to an existing business at 677 Skylane Road on St. Simons Island.
Christopher Carey, senior planner for Glynn County, told the commission the application is for an addition to the J and J Tire property. Carey said the commission had previously approved a 1,200-square-foot addition under an earlier site plan (SP-25-1) but that portion was never built. The new proposal locates the larger addition at the rear of the lease parcel and includes updated elevations and site drawings.
Chris Amos, representing property owner Jacob Melton, asked the commission to approve the plan “as presented.” The commission opened a public hearing; no one spoke for or against the project. A commissioner moved to approve SP-25-29677, a colleague seconded, and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with the development details shown on the submitted site plan. Carey answered commissioner questions about the prior approval and confirmed the previously permitted 1,200-square-foot addition was not constructed. The county will proceed with any necessary permitting and inspections required for the addition.
The commission handled the site-plan approval in a single meeting slot with no public opposition and without amendments to the submitted plans.
