The Klamath Falls City Council on Monday approved a consent agenda of routine purchases and projects, authorized a contractor upfit for police vehicles, and adopted a special ordinance vacating a portion of Almond Street right-of-way.
The consent agenda included three items described in the meeting packet: authorization of additional consultant-service costs for the Arthur and Alba water-main replacement project in the amount of $1,492.25; authorization to purchase a John Deere 50P compact excavator with attachments not to exceed $103,565.42 from Pape Machinery through the Sourcewell cooperative; and authorization to purchase two Ford Police Interceptor SUVs and two Ford Explorer vehicles from Butler Ford not to exceed $177,568.40. A councilmember moved to approve the consent agenda and the council voted in favor without recorded opposition.
The council also approved a goods-and-services contract with Day Wireless to upfit four police vehicles (two Ford Police Interceptor SUVs and two Ford Explorers) with wireless equipment in an amount not to exceed $79,827.58. Police Captain Greg Wheat described the request in the meeting, saying, “So we're just looking at the vehicles that, you just talked about previously. We're just looking to update them, with they wireless equipped them. Typically that's who has done it in the past.” The council authorized the city manager to execute the contract and voted to approve the measure with no recorded opposition.
On second and final reading the council adopted a special ordinance vacating a portion of Almond Street right of way. The ordinance was read by title, a motion to adopt was made and seconded, and a roll-call vote was recorded: Councilor Steuben — Aye; Councilor Russo — Yes; Councilor McLeod — Aye; Councilor Miller Way — Yes. The ordinance was adopted and no dissenting votes were recorded in the roll call presented on the record.
No amendments to the ordinance or the contract motions were recorded during the meeting. The council adjourned shortly after other matters and staff reports.
