Jackson Public School District holds parent leadership session and honors staff

Jackson Public School District held a parent and community leadership informational session that encouraged parents to take active roles in schools and recognized staff and district leaders for their work, district presenters said.

A session presenter from the Jackson Public School District said, "As parents, you have to get involved. You have to get involved," urging attendees to engage with principals and school staff about how to support neighborhood schools. The session included talks on stepping into leadership roles and working collaboratively "as a team," the presenter said.

The event also honored faculty, staff and volunteers with several awards. A parent recipient, identified in the program as Parent of the Year, said, "I am truly honored, and this is very fulfilling. So I really do appreciate the Stan staff for nominating me." Other recognitions announced during the program included Teacher of the Year, Support Staff of the Year, District Leader of the Year and Administrator of the Year. A district speaker described the honorees as representing "the heart and soul of JPS."

Speakers repeatedly framed the session as both informational and celebratory, encouraging attendees to contact school principals about volunteer opportunities and to view the district's communications for more details. The presenter directed attendees to the district website and social channels for additional information.
