Leesburg parks commission elects new chair and vice chair

The Leesburg Parks and Recreation Commission elected Brody as chair and Deborah as vice chair during its first meeting of the year.

The vote came after nominations from commission members. A motion to elect Brody passed by voice vote; commissioners signaled assent with “aye” and the chair confirmed the result. Following that, members nominated and approved Deborah as vice chair by voice vote.

The elections were conducted as the first order of business. Laurie Burke, who identified herself as the commission’s current vice chair, participated in the roll call and introductions earlier in the meeting. Commissioners said the officer roles include running meetings and serving as the commission’s point people when staff or council liaison engagement is needed.

The commission did not record individual roll-call tallies in the meeting transcript; chair and vice chair elections were approved by voice vote without named yes/no tallies. No further formal action on officer duties or term lengths was recorded.
