Flower Mound fills CAC staff roles; CAC closed for parts of four days after underground waterline leak

The recreation report also described a significant waterline leak at the CAC that required crews to hand-trench under the building to reach a break about 12 feet beneath the structure. Staff said the repair affected operations for roughly four days; the department provided members with four extra days on their memberships to compensate for lost hours.
Recreation staff outlined upcoming events and program needs: the Marcus High School–hosted Martin Luther King Jr. remembrance was supported with a $1,000 sponsorship; the annual father–daughter prom on March 22 was full with a waiting list; Twin Coast Park will host an open house March 29; and the department is recruiting a track-and-field coach and a summer swim-team coach to replace departing staff. Staff asked the board to refer qualified candidates.
Staff also described safety and preparedness training: with the Flower Mound Police Department, parks staff have conducted active‑attacker training and are planning additional sessions covering overdose identification and stop-the-bleed training alongside CPR and first aid.
Senior programs reported membership gains and participation metrics: the Seniors in Motion program added about 70 members month-over-month and recorded about 4,600 card scans in the prior month. A new six-week Brain Boot Camp program has 37 participants and includes short daily exercises in math, writing and reading; the senior center will host a blood drive Feb. 10 and a Valentine's Day dinner and disco on Feb. 13.
Staff characterized the CAC disruption and hires as operational matters resolved in the short term and said program and facility updates will return in future reports.
