The district published the RFP in December and received 17 vendor responses by the January 15 deadline. Administrators recommended Archangel as the lowest qualifying bidder after disqualifying 1 submission that did not include required Chromebooks or licensing. The recommended contract amount presented for approval at the meeting was $443,704 and the board voted to authorize the contract.
District staff said the procurement strategy staggers device replacement consistent with multi-year license cycles (students receive devices at the end of 5th grade and 8th grade for use through middle- and high-school careers). The board asked about disposition of returned devices; staff said devices returned after three years are inspected, refurbished as appropriate, and redistributed within the district to staff or programs where suitable, with some units used for limited community distribution when condition permits.
A motion to enter into contract with Archangel for the 550 student Chromebooks and licenses was made and seconded; the board approved the contract amount by voice vote.
