The Timberlane Regional School District Board of Education voted to approve the hire of Frank Janvern as the district's new facilities director (Plant Operations). The board considered Janvern's candidacy following a search that began in October and included multiple interviews, hands-on demonstrations and building walkthroughs.
Board members said Janvern distinguished himself through follow-up communications with district staff, attendance at technical training on the district's building automation system, and prior facilities experience in healthcare and institutional settings. Dr. Martin introduced Janvern and described him as a "systems thinker," noting Janvern's facility-management background and his familiarity with building automation and operations software used by the district.
Janvern told the board he was "excited to be part of the team" and summarized his background as beginning in custodial work and progressing through facilities management roles with Recovery Centers of America, Mass General Brigham, CBRE and Sodexo/Tufts in Melrose. He said he sought the position to return to public service and work with students and the community.
Board members asked Janvern about his experience managing large inventories of building space and deferred to an entry plan the district described: a gradual orientation over the coming days with the candidate joining the facilities committee and beginning onboarding immediately. A motion to accept Janvern's professional nomination as Facilities/Plant Operations Director passed by voice vote.
The board recorded the hire as a formal personnel action and indicated Janvern will begin a phased introduction to the district immediately; his first formal facilities committee meeting is scheduled for the following Tuesday.
Votes and formal actions from the meeting related to the hire are recorded in the district minutes.
