Council approves 2025 Street Improvement Project; project to be advertised for bids

The Oak Grove City Council voted Feb. 27 to approve plans and advertise the 2025 Street Improvement Project, which targets roughly half of the Ponds development and several cul-de-sacs for milling, curb repairs, ADA ramp upgrades and limited storm-sewer work.
Consulting engineer Chuck briefed the council on the scope: "milling off the upper 1 and a half inches, replace some select curb replacements, some ADA, pedestrian ramps, and then also a little bit of, storm sewer rings and things that need to be replaced that have deteriorated," he said. Chuck recommended an adjusted schedule for bidding and awarding based on procurement timelines.
Council members raised concerns that future private development of an adjacent former wastewater parcel could require heavy construction vehicles that might damage a newly paved road. Councilmember West suggested routing construction traffic to the county road to avoid neighborhood wear; the city also discussed pre-construction condition surveys and holding developers responsible for damage.
Councilmember West moved adoption of resolution 2025-029 to approve the plans and advertise for bids; the motion passed 5-0.
Why it matters: The project advances maintenance of neighborhood streets and includes work to improve ADA access and drainage. Council members asked staff to consider staging or scope adjustments to limit rework if adjacent development occurs.
