The Arts, Parks, Libraries & Entertainment Committee, chaired by Welsh, approved three consent resolutions and deferred an ordinance on amphitheatre management for one meeting during its session.
The committee adopted a cooperative purchasing master agreement with Demco Inc. for the Nashville Public Library to buy furniture, equipment and supplies; approved an appropriation of $174,796 for after‑school and summer programming through the library’s Nashville AfterZone Alliance; and authorized applying for an in‑kind Healthy Places grant from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation to help develop a fully accessible “Miracle Field” at Cedar Hill Park.
A library staff member attending the meeting praised the committee’s work on the NASAA program and said she hoped the Miracle Field project could be replicated: “I’m so for it and so excited… I can only hope that this is just the beginning and that we have one or two more because I think that the more facilities we have for families with children with disabilities, the better.” The staff member also asked that a message be relayed to “Kevin.”
The items were bundled on the consent agenda and passed after the chair called for a voice vote with no objections recorded.
Separately, the committee took up BL2025‑1050, an ordinance to amend an agreement between the Metropolitan Government and Nashville Riverfront Amphitheatre LLC, an affiliate of Opry Entertainment Group, concerning management, operation and maintenance of the West Riverfront Amphitheatre and supporting grounds and buildings. The sponsor requested a one‑meeting deferral; the committee approved the deferral after a motion and second.
The meeting agenda listed sponsors for the consent items and the amphitheatre bill as Toombs, Bow and Welsh (cooperative purchase); Toombs, Bow, Welsh, Hill and Styles (after‑school appropriation); Gamble, Toombs, Voe and Welsh (Miracle Field grant application); and Toombs, Bow, Welsh and Cuban (amphitheatre ordinance). The transcript did not record a roll‑call vote or member‑by‑member tallies for the consent approval or the deferral.
The committee adjourned after the deferral vote.
