Anna Ranch president urges council to reconsider proposed manufacturing zonings in 2050 draft plan

Alexa Sunk, who identified herself as president of Anna Ranch, addressed the council during the neighbor comments portion of Tuesday’s meeting to urge caution about a draft amendment to the city’s 2050 comprehensive plan. Sunk said she is “specifically concerned about some of the proposed manufacturing and warehouse zoning that’s pretty close to Anna Ranch” and described the neighborhood as a “very vibrant and packed community” that is primarily residential.

Sunk said she believes the proposed industrial zoning would be nonconforming with plans for that area, could diminish property values, and “hinder” the community being built there. She noted the amendment remains preliminary and said she offered the comments in advance of formal consideration by the council.

Why it matters: comprehensive-plan land-use and zoning designations guide future development and can affect traffic, property values and long-term neighborhood character. Sunk asked the council to consider residential compatibility as the plan moves forward.
