The SMASI Planning Board voted to approve a new tenant application for 135 Old Homestead Highway, allowing Sarah Holmes to open a boutique in one of the building's individual suites.
The board approved the application during its Oct. 9 meeting at Whitcomb Hall. "Motion by Michael York to approve the new tenant. Seconded by Brandon," the record shows; board members responded "Aye," and the application was accepted.
The applicant, Sarah Holmes, told the board she will share the building with an existing hair salon owner and operate a boutique from one suite. Holmes said anticipated customer traffic is low ("1 through 5" customers per day), and she described proposed hours as Monday and Wednesday 3 to 6 p.m., Friday 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; board members recommended allowing broader approved hours to avoid returning for a revision if her schedule later expands.
Planning staff reported available on-site parking and noted the business will occupy a single suite with just the applicant as the primary employee. The board discussed but did not change the applicant's proposed signage; members noted that if the sign replaces an existing sign with the same square footage no additional permit is required.
The vote was recorded on the meeting transcript as a motion by Michael York and seconded by Brandon (Self). There were no recorded dissenting votes.
The board welcomed Holmes and closed the item after the vote.
