Tehachapi pins badges for two new officers; radio dispatcher named employee of the quarter

Tehachapi’s police department held badge-pinning and swearing-in ceremonies for two new officers and recognized a dispatcher as the city’s employee of the quarter.
Police Chief introduced Officer Elizabeth Narvaez and Officer Jordan Cooper, described both as recent academy graduates who began in dispatch and as trainees respectively, and asked the council and public to join in pinning. Narvaez, after repeating the oath, said, "I do." Cooper likewise repeated the oath and responded, "I do." The chief highlighted that both officers now live in the local area and praised command staff and background investigators for recruitment and onboarding, and he thanked council for Measure S funding that has helped the department expand.
The chief also presented Robin, a long-time dispatcher who stepped into the interim dispatch supervisor role seven months earlier, with an employee-of-the-quarter certificate. The chief credited Robin with helping the department re-obtain FEMA certification, secure radio licensing, coordinate California Department of Justice audits, and plan an upcoming 9-1-1 upgrade. Robin accepted the recognition and thanked the group.
Council members and the mayor thanked the officers and staff, noting community support for the police department and the importance of local hires. The chief said a promotion will be scheduled at a future council meeting as backgrounds and staffing continue to be processed.
