Le Mars council adopts resolution to extend sewer to four industrial lots

At its February meeting, the Le Mars City Council adopted Resolution 25-8 approving plans, specifications, form of contract and an estimate of cost for the 2025 Industrial Road sanitary sewer extension project, which will extend the city’s sanitary sewer main to serve four lots in the Le Mars Industrial Park Second and Third additions.
City staff told the council the project is intended to serve Lot 7 in the Industrial Park Third Addition, which is under construction and needs sewer service immediately. A city staff member said, “I currently do not have access to sewer. Lot 7, Le Mars Industrial Park Third addition is currently being constructed on and will need sewer as soon as possible.” The project schedule presented in the meeting notes a public hearing on Feb. 18, 2025, a March 12, 2025 bid opening at 10 a.m., an award on March 18, 2025, and an expected completion date of Aug. 1, 2025.
The council opened the hearing and took no public comments. The estimate for the project stated in the meeting was $104,246; the project is slated to be funded with tax increment financing (TIF).
Council members voted by roll call to adopt Resolution 25-8. The roll call recorded Sturgeon, Wick, Goodchild, Hick, Bruns and Barnes voting yes. The motion carried.
Next formal steps the council set are the bid opening and award dates noted above; staff indicated funding will come from the city’s TIF account.
