Wilson School District outlines timeline to develop 2030 strategic plan

"I believe that we need our true north," he said, describing the plan as a means to "continually get better" rather than to complete a checklist of tasks.
The proposed timeline calls for: an initial community presentation on Feb. 18; an administrative meeting the next day; public surveys to be issued later in the week to collect perception data from students, staff and community; focused team work from March through May to analyze quantitative measures (attendance, participation, behavior, student achievement) and finalize a draft; board review in late June or early July; and a public presentation for board approval likely in August or September. Trickett said the district would present the finalized plan to staff at the back-to-school event in August and would publish the plan in the annual year-in-review mailing.
Trickett described the district's approach to building the plan: keep the existing "Wilson graduate" profile and core values, reduce the number of goal statements from six to a tighter set of four or five, and create annual action plans under each goal to produce measurable outcomes. He said a superintendent's advisory committee of students from every building has already met over the last year, produced themes and drafted three candidate goal statements and related action steps.
Trickett said the communications team will publish surveys and that the district plans to create a public website portal to show progress on the goals and maintain transparency. He asked the board for input on community engagement methods and emphasized using data alongside student, staff and family voices.
Board member Mr. Case thanked Trickett for the preview and framed the effort as an ongoing framework rather than a one-time checklist.
