NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News City Council on Dec. 10 approved a series of resolutions and ordinances authorizing land-use updates, infrastructure work, affordable-housing bond inducements and sewer capital funding.
The council approved the Bridal Hill Area Plan as an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan; authorized acquisition of property at 600 Harpersville Road for a pump station replacement project; and adopted an ordinance to lease a city-owned building at 34 Jefferson Avenue to Fairlead Boat Works Inc. Council members also authorized multifamily housing revenue bond inducements for the Coyle Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects and appropriated general-obligation bond funds for sanitary-sewer rehabilitation projects.
The actions collectively move forward transportation, public-works and housing projects the city manager recommended.…
