Cohen said the district nurse team identified the partnership to increase access in a region the staff described as having a single local provider.
Cohen also briefly presented a $3,063.76 donation from Excellence in Education to build a preschool classroom library, support a 5th‑grade reading‑buddies program, and provide a gift book to participating 5th graders.
Board action: A board member moved and another seconded the two grant acceptances; the motions passed by voice vote. The board also approved the consent agenda — which included the personnel action report and new administrative regulations previously reviewed — by voice vote.
Why it matters: The Rotary grant funds an on‑site vision screening and eyeglass program that district staff said will remove an access barrier for low‑income families.
