AJ, a code enforcement manager, told the committee the department was short on seasonal staff for much of 2024 and that one dedicated seasonal was reassigned early in the season. The late start and a delayed second seasonal reduced staff time devoted to weeds and right-of-way enforcement, AJ said, and parks case counts were also lower when the city lacked a park ranger for part of the spring and summer.
Committee members asked about the distribution of calls for service. AJ said roughly 75% of calls were officer-initiated and roughly 25% came from citizens or dispatch.
