The Easton School Committee on Dec. 19 voted to approve an out‑of‑state overnight trip for eight students to attend the Community Anti‑Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) national leadership forum in Washington, D.C., Feb. 3–6, 2025. Eastern Wings of Hope will sponsor the trip.
Lisa St. Mary, representing Eastern Wings of Hope, told the committee the nonprofit has sponsored the delegation for the past three years. Students chosen to attend undergo an application and interview process; this year the group expects two middle school and six high school students across grade levels. St. Mary said the forum focuses on substance‑use prevention, coalition work and direct advocacy with legislators.
Committee members praised the program’s student leadership development. Student representative Marvel also endorsed the trip, saying the conference is a "great leadership opportunity" that exposes students to national peers and legislative advocacy.
Vote The committee approved the trip in a roll‑call vote; recorded votes included Deluca, Wiseman, Star, Loomis and Percio voting yes.
