Jackson Public Schools celebrates community partners, awards $102,972.81 in teacher mini-grants and highlights student programs

The superintendent thanked organizations including Paul Mokes Subaru, FedEx and New Horizon Church for supporting students when facilities temporarily closed.
Green and guest speakers celebrated the Junior League of Jackson's long-running teacher-mini-grant program and the Community Foundation of Mississippi partnership. The Junior League has partnered with JPS since 1988; the district said the combined program awarded $102,972.81 to fund 26 classroom projects. The superintendent credited volunteer leadership including Gail Adams and Junior League volunteers for raising more than $2,000,000 for teacher grants since the program's start. District leaders said the grants support creative, teacher-designed projects ranging from literacy and math manipulatives to language-technology tools for English learners.
The board also heard brief highlights from the district reading fair, JROTC gala, and a Hispanic heritage celebration for English learners at Forest Hill High School. The district noted partnerships with Jackson State University and New Horizon Church for temporary scholar relocation after heating failures in some buildings.
