Pennsbury recognizes LIFT character award winners; Edgewood Elementary presents gratitude-themed report

The Pennsbury School Board recognized student LIFT character award winners for the trait of responsibility and heard an elementary-school report from Edgewood’s service council.
Award presenters said there were 14 nominations for responsibility this month and selected multiple winners across grade levels. Winners mentioned in the meeting included Lisonbee Bennett, an eighth grader at Charles Boehm Middle School; Shahayo Thacker, a fourth grader at Pennsington (Pulsington in transcript) Elementary School; Kate Betsom, a fifth grader at Affton Disney Elementary School; Sia (Cia) Austin, an eighth grader at William Penn Middle School; and Charlotte Ritterzbach, a student at Pennsbury High School. Presenters described traits such as completing assignments on time, mentoring younger students, inclusive behavior and leadership in extracurricular activities.
Edgewood Elementary’s service council officers — Annabelle Hipschman (president), Brady Bach (vice president), Dean Estroff (secretary) and Declan Ferroni (treasurer) — presented a gratitude-themed report and a short video highlighting school programs including departmentalization for fourth and fifth grades, special area classes, field trips, recess activities, and parent-led events. The presenters thanked staff and the district for support and noted the school’s focus on inclusion and social skills instruction (responsive classroom practices).
The board applauded the students and concluded the recognition and school report portions of the meeting before proceeding to administrative items.
