Nyberg explained the original request sought to vacate the entire private road; because some sections were not properly noticed, staff pursued the north portion for ordinance action now and will notice the remaining portion for a future public hearing. She said the owners want the north portion vacated so they can sell their land.
Nyberg said the portion of road on Donna Young’s property to the south would not be vacated; Donna Young requested the county instead reroute the road to connect to B Road/Deep Creek Road. Commissioners agreed to approve vacating the north portion with the condition that the property owner obtain the reroute and record the deed or easement within six months; if the work is not completed, the commission will revisit the ordinance to finalize the vacation.
Commissioners discussed survey and legal-description logistics. County staff recommended the county surveyor prepare the legal description (rather than requiring the property owner to fund a private survey) because the vacation was caused by county action. Road department staff will inspect the route and recommend any required work if the county is to accept the route as a Class D (unmaintained) road. The commissioners asked that staff place the item back on the calendar within the six‑month window for follow‑up.
