The Uintah County Commission approved a tax-deferral request for a primary residence that had been five years delinquent on property taxes.
Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins told the commission the taxpayer for parcel serial number 120160021 requested a deferral on $2,910.14 after falling behind for five years. Wilkins said the owner made a $500 payment and agreed to pay $225 per month through Nov. 1 to satisfy the balance, and Wilkins recommended the commission pull the parcel from the tax sale for the year.
A commissioner moved to approve the deferral “as has been presented.” The motion passed. The commission did not read an itemized roll-call vote into the record; individual recorded votes were not specified in the meeting transcript.
The clerk/auditor had presented the board with the county warrants for context: warrants dated Jan. 30 totaled $868,320.67 (including an $89,008.24 payment to the central dispatch for equipment and a $148,006.25 payment to Vernal City for its cemetery), and warrants dated Feb. 6 totaled $301,838.86, which Wilkins described as routine.
The commission moved on after approving the deferral.
