Board raises job order contract limit from $1 million to $2 million to speed campus projects

District staff said the change is intended to provide flexibility to complete renovations and maintenance projects without repeatedly returning to the board to approve individual higher‑value job orders. Presenters cited higher material and labor costs as reasons the previous $1 million threshold was no longer sufficient for many projects.
Board members stressed the change does not remove board oversight; significant projects will still be brought to the board for review. The measure passed 7–0.
