The City Council on June 13 approved revisions to the Warner Center specific plan intended to make the San Fernando Valley center more competitive for tenants and new growth while retaining key protections and mitigations, the council said.
Council discussion and the Planning and Land Use Management Committee’s recommendation emphasized that the original adopted plan contained fees and mitigation requirements that had discouraged development. Councilmember who introduced the item said the revisions “accomplish[] that in a very balanced way” and thanked Planning staff and community stakeholders for their work.
The council voted with 10 ayes to approve the committee recommendation; because the change is an ordinance it must be carried over for one week for final adoption when a larger quorum can consider the ordinance. The council record shows staff and committee involvement and that the adoption will return for ordinance passage on the required calendar timeline.
No substantive amendments were recorded during the council discussion and staff said the ordinance would be prepared for formal fourth reading as required.
