Moffat County commissioners decided Dec. 31 not to accept a lone, over-budget bid for a dump-box truck and to award the county’s 2025 salvage-metal contract to X Field Services at $31 per ton.
Road and bridge staff told the board they received only one bid for the dump-box truck — $89,112.28 — which exceeded the department’s budget. “We only got 1 bid for the dump box truck, and it was $89,112.28, and that's way more than we're willing to spend, way more than budgeted, so we're going to put it out bid again in the future,” a road and bridge staff member reported.
On the salvage-metal contract, staff said X Field Services submitted the only bid, at $31 per ton. A commissioner moved to award the contract to X Field Services at $31 per ton; the motion was seconded and carried.
Commissioners left the dump-box truck item without action so the county can re-bid the purchase; the board will revisit the item in a future meeting if staff advises a formal denial is required.
