At the public‑comment portion of the meeting, Lynn Tetley said the county intended to put a roundabout “in our front yard” at the corner of Crestline Drive and described receiving land‑acquisition offers around Thanksgiving. “We do not need or want a roundabout,” Tetley told the board, citing lack of neighborhood outreach and asking commissioners to reject contract number 123‑1540 under agenda number 2024‑1261.
Mark Capps, who said he lives at 1840–1842 Chrysler Drive, presented a diagram showing the current road edge and an engineered plan that, he said, would take roughly a quarter‑acre beyond the county right‑of‑way. “How did this engineering firm come up with such an absurd plan?” Capps asked; he alleged county surveyors entered private property without permission and said the project would unnecessarily expand scope and cost.
Commissioners did not make a final decision on the specific right‑of‑way at the Jan. 28 meeting. Later in the agenda, when a multi‑vendor change order package for engineering and design services related to transportation projects (contract group that includes item 2024‑1261) came before the board, the sponsor moved to defer that substitute to the Feb. 11 Board of Commissioners meeting with a prior stop in the PWI committee (Jan. 30). Commissioner Ted Terry seconded the deferral and the board approved it.
County staff and the petitioners have asked for additional meetings and engagement with the Public Works and Infrastructure (PWI) committee. Residents requested a meeting with county staff and the project team at Thursday’s PWI meeting and asked the board to halt funding or acquisition until neighborhood alternatives are discussed.
