Commissioners adopt annual appointments list, assign liaisons and pick vice chair

At the Jan. 21 meeting the Clear Creek County Board of County Commissioners adopted the county's annual appointments list and recorded commissioner liaisons to multiple regional bodies.

The board reviewed the appointment roster and the staff memo summarizing board and commission vacancies, geography and role descriptions. Commissioners named Rebecca Lloyd as vice chair for the coming term and assigned liaison duties for several topics: Lloyd was named liaison to the I‑70 Coalition and I‑70 Collaborative Effort and transportation matters; a commissioner volunteer accepted representation on NoCo Places 2050 (recreation/outdoor management) and other commissioners or staff volunteered as alternates for boards such as the fire authority and the Jefferson Center for Mental Health.

County staff told commissioners they will conduct interviews for board and commission applicants where there is interest from more than one commissioner and will circulate candidate materials. Commissioners discussed the value of formalizing liaison roles (transportation, environment, housing) and agreed to flesh out the scope of liaison duties at a future retreat or work session.

Why it matters: Annual appointments determine who represents the county on interjurisdictional bodies that handle transportation, housing, water and public‑safety planning. The meeting also reinforced a practice of conducting interviews and public recruitment for vacancies and of documenting commissioner liaisons so the public knows who represents county priorities.

Next steps: Staff will post vacancies and schedule interviews for applicants who requested interviews; commissioners will continue to refine liaison roles and report back with any recommended changes to the appointment process.
