Cheshire County accepts $4,747 state grant for Monadnock response-team uniforms

Cheshire County Commissioners on Oct. 23 accepted a $4,747 grant from the New Hampshire Department of Safety’s Homeland Security GRAMA program to purchase battle-dress uniforms for the Monadnock Special Response Team.
Suzanne Vanleton, who presented the item, said the funding is a small, formula-driven allocation meant to buy special uniforms "that are, like, fireproof and waterproof, things like that." Vanleton asked the commissioners to accept the award and authorize county staff to sign the agreement.
A motion to accept the grant agreement was moved and seconded during the meeting. Commissioners voted in favor: Commissioner Wozniak, aye; Commissioner Ingalls, aye; Commissioner Clark, aye. The motion passed 3-0. County staff said Chris Coats has the authority to sign the agreement on the county’s behalf and that the signed certificate of vote will be returned to the grants office.
The award is a formula allocation administered at the state Department of Safety level and, according to Vanleton, is intended to cover specialized gear for the regional response team. The county clerk or designated official will complete the signature formalities after the meeting.
The grant acceptance was on the commissioners’ consent/business agenda; there was no extended debate beyond the presenter’s description.
Votes at a glance: the Commissioners approved the grant acceptance unanimously (3-0).
