The Le Mars City Council on Jan. 7 adopted Resolution No. 25-1 approving the submittal of updated Title VI nondiscrimination assurances to the United States Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
City staff said the IDOT conducts a compliance review every five years to confirm recipients of federal highway assistance have nondiscrimination policies, required language in contracts and bids, and documentation on file. The review of the city’s materials was completed Nov. 20, 2024, and staff provided the required documents to IDOT.
A motion to approve Resolution No. 25-1 was made, seconded and approved by roll call. Councilmembers Goodchilds, Steve Wick, Sturgeon, Pick and Bruns recorded “yes” votes in the roll call recorded in the transcript; the motion carried.
Staff described the action as the final administrative step to keep the city in compliance so it may continue to receive federal transportation funds.
