At a special meeting Dec. 5, the Hermosa Beach City Council administered oaths of office to two council members and the newly elected city treasurer.
Michael DeToy was sworn in after a family member administered the oath. Michael Keegan and Dave Peterson were sworn in by the city clerk; each recited the standard oath to support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of California and to faithfully discharge their duties.
Family members and supporters stepped forward for photographs following each oath. In brief remarks after their swearing-in, the newly seated and returning officials thanked family and supporters; Keegan said he had spoken with hundreds of voters during the campaign and planned to use that input in his council work. Peterson said he had already met a transition team and planned to coordinate on the city's investment policy as treasurer.
The oaths were administered as the agenda moved from presentations to the formal roll call of the newly constituted council, and the meeting proceeded to closing remarks and adjournment to a reception at Hermosa Brewing Company.
