The Hermosa Beach City Council voted unanimously Dec. 5 to adopt a resolution certifying the results of the Nov. 5, 2024 municipal election, following certification by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder.
The council adopted the resolution after staff said the county office provided final election results and the certification document, which was attached to the resolution as an exhibit. "I move that we adopt the resolution certifying the results of the election," Council member Justin Massey said before the roll call vote.
The vote was recorded as aye by Council member Justin Massey, Council member Ray Jackson, Council member Michael DeToy, Mayor Pro Tem Seaman and Mayor Francois. The motion carried.
The action formalizes the county-certified returns and clears the way for the sworn installation of city officials later in the meeting. The resolution item was listed on the agenda as Item 7(a).
A separate procedural motion to approve the special-meeting agenda also passed by the same unanimous roll call earlier in the meeting.
The council meeting convened at 6:06 p.m.; the resolution and the vote were announced publicly during the presentations portion of the agenda.
